Here are recipes we were baking and cooking:
1. PUFF PASTRY
INGREDIENTS:
THE FIRST DOUGH
250 grams butter - HERA
60 grams smooth flour - hladká
THE SECOND DOUGH
6 spoon soups of water
a bit of salt
1 spoon of vineyard
1 yolk
180 grams smooth flour

This recipe consists of 2 doughs:
The first one:
Mix 250 grams of butter - HERA at room temperature , 60 grams smooth flour - hladká múka.
Make a soft pastry and place to the site.
The second one:
Mix 6 soup spoons of water with 1 spoon of vineyard, a bit of salt and 1 egg yolk in the cup.
Add 180 grams smooth flour to the soft mixture.
At first roll flat the second dough and place the first dough to the second one. This is very
important to do it this way! Fold the dough as you see on the picture and leave it on site
for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, roll flat the dough and fold again. Leave another 30 minutes.
Than roll flat this final dough and the pastry is ready for baking.
This is the main mixture for prepare “Štrúdľa” ,small cookies filled with sweet cottage cheese/tvaroh/
or šamrole.
2. APPLE STRUDEL
INGREDIENTS:
puff pastry
oil
breadcrump
3 big apples - grated
granulated sugar
cinnamon
raisins
mixture of milk and a bit of oil
icing sugar

We make štrúdľa from the basic - puff pastry - so prepare it before.
Roll the pastry and sprinkle with bit of oil. Prepare a breadcrump fried on the pan a little bit.
Than place some breadcrumb to the pastry. Grate 3 big apples and pour on the breadcrump.
Than cover with some granulated sugar and some grated cinnamon. Add on few raisins.
Repeat the same principe by adding breadcrump and a little oil.
Roll it the same way as you make kimpab :).
Put it to the oven and bake at the temperature of 180 degrees. If it is baking, open
the oven and spread on it some milk mixed with oil.
Do the same till the whole baking proces to make the cake juicy.
When it is ready, put it out of the oven, let it get colder and pour on it some icing sugar.
It is also good to eat it little warm with cup of chocolate.
3. JAM COOKIES:
INGREDIENTS:
140 grams butter - HERA
100 grams icing sugar
2 yolks
200 grams smooth flour - hladká
your famourite jam
ALTERNATIVE:
lemon
water
2 egg whites
100 grams icing sugar
100 grams milled nuts
HOW TO MAKE A DOUGH:
At first we have to make a dough. Mix 140 grams butter - the best is HERA - in room temperature
together with 100 grams icing sugar, 2 yolks and 200 grams smooth flour - in slovak “hladká múka”.
Mix that all together to soft mixture, roll on the desk to flat shape and cut different shapes. Than put
it to baking tin and bake in preheated oven at 175 - 180 degrees till the shape is nice gold.
After it is ready. leave it for a while to get it colder and spread with jam. Than stick tvo smae pieces
together and the cake is ready to eat.
Alternative no.1:
Make snow from 2 cold egg whites and while it is mixing, add 100 grams icing sugar very slow.
Than add 100 grams of milled nuts and mix softly.
Put the wheels to the oven for a while, than take it out of there,place small mounds of nut mixture
and finish baking in the oven.
Alternative no.2:
Squeeze lemon, add some icing sugar and water and little bit of jam to get a nice glazing. After you
bake cookies, pour them with some glazing which make it yammy and squeezy.

4. KAPUSTNICA - CABBAGE SOUP
INGREDIENTS:
2 bug onions
2 table spoons of ketchup
½ kg beef
½ kg pork
200 grams English bacon
200 grams smoked brisket
salt
water
dried mushrooms
3/4 kg sour cabbage
one pair of paprika sausages
sour cream

Cut two big onions to small pieces and put them to the pan with oil and let it get little gold.
Add 2 table spoons of ketchup and mix. Add ½ kg beef cut to cubes about 1,5 x 1,5 cm
and leave it cooking for about 15 – 20 minutes- don’t add water. After that add ½ kg
of pork – the best is chuck – „pliecko“ in slovak. Mix it together, add salt,
200 grams english bacon cut to small pieces, 200 grams smoked brisket
– in slovak „údený bôčik“ and pour in water to cook the meat.
Now the meat has to stay under the water.
If you also like mushrooms, you can put some of them inside. How to prepare them?
Leave some dried mushrooms cooking in the water. When the water is boling, strain them
through filter. Than put them into the new celan water again and let it cook
about 20 – 30 minutes. After that add the mushrooms into the boiling meat mixture.
Let it cook.
In another pot start with cabbage- put ½ kg – ¾ kg sour cabbage cut to smaller
pieces-for easier eating. Add there water- aprox. 1 liter. When the water with
cabbage starts boiling, add one pair of paprika sausages cut to small wheels and cook.
After about ½ hour mix together with the pan of beef and pork.
If you like it more soft, add some sour cream – slovak „ smotana“.
